Our laboratory is dedicated to understanding the molecular mechanisms that drive tumorigenicity and therapeutic resistance in ovarian cancer—one of the most lethal gynecological malignancies worldwide. We focus on identifying the biological factors that contribute to poor patient outcomes and on developing innovative, personalized, and less invasive therapeutic strategies.
To achieve this, our team integrates a multidisciplinary approach that includes state-of-the-art in vitro and in vivo models, along with the study of clinically relevant patient samples. By combining molecular biology, genomics, and translational research, we aim to bridge the gap between fundamental discoveries and clinical applications. We are committed to fostering collaboration, innovation, and scientific excellence, with the ultimate goal of advancing the understanding of ovarian cancer and contributing to the development of more effective therapies for patients.
Within this framework, our research explores several key areas:
DNA repair mechanisms in ovarian cancer
We investigate how alterations in DNA damage response pathways contribute to tumor progression and sensitivity or resistance to current therapies.
The tumor microenvironment in therapy-resistant ovarian cancer
We study the cellular and molecular interactions within the tumor niche that promote resistance and influence disease evolution.
Generation of new ovarian cancer models
We develop and characterize novel experimental models that more accurately recapitulate the complexity of the disease, enabling better prediction of therapeutic responses.
Identification of new treatments for ovarian cancer
We work to discover and validate new therapeutic targets, explore drug combinations, and evaluate next-generation treatment strategies aimed at improving patient survival and quality of life.
